 1.   Summary

This product bulletin announces an update to the process for ordering additional NetApp cabinets from Add Parts. Cabinets are now only quoted via a Cabinet Wizard in eConfigurator. Previously the Cabinet Wizard, as well as individual cabinets, was available from Add Parts. Now cabinets can only be quoted using the Wizard. The Wizard also provides the necessary internal cabinet power cords required for the devices that will be installed in the NetApp cabinets.

2.   What's New?

With the release of the February 2007 Quote Tool, ordering 20- or 30-amp cabinets is very simple. Simply go to Add Parts and type “Cabinets” in the search window for parts. The cabinet part will appear as a line item that you must edit config in order to proceed with configuring the cabinets. Please refer to the Quote Tool Bulletin for detailed quoting instructions. The tables below shows the cabinets, powers cords, and interconnect kit that can be configured using the Wizard.

The Wizard makes some assumptions or does not account for some devices that could be configured into a cabinet in the field. Please note these when using the Cabinet Wizard to quote cabinets:

1. Brocade 4100 and 4900 switches and Cisco 9120, 9140, and 9020 switches use the X1558A-R5 power adapter instead of the X800-42U-R6 power cord in cabinet configurations. The Wizard cannot be used to configure power cords for these switches. You will need to quote the switch power cords as separate items from Add Parts.

2. The Wizard assumes all devices added are 3U devices. Most switches are 1U and some appliances are 6U. Please know the height of the devices that will be configured into the cabinets to be ordered so that the appropriate amount of cabinet space will be quoted.

3. The Wizard does not account for restrictions of shelf count for 30-amp cabinets with FAS6000 platforms. FAS6000 systems allow a maximum of 11 disk shelves and one FAS6000 platform head per 30-amp 42U cabinet and two FAS6000 heads and eight disks shelves in a single 30-amp cabinet.

4. The Cabinet Wizard simply assumes (14) 3U devices per cabinet.

Please take the above information into account when quoting.
